“O Christian worker, Christian soldier, Christian pilgrim, in the midst of your “contest” and your “running” today, or in what seems the midst of it, for the end may all the while be just upon you, take heart often from the thought that even so for you, if you are true to the blessed Name, it shall one day be. The last care will have been felt and cast upon the Lord, the last exhausting effort will have been made, the last witness under difficulties borne, the last sorrow faced and entered, the last word written, the last word spoken. And then the one remaining thing will be to let the Lord, “the Man at the Gate,” lift thee in, and give thee rest.”
– Bishop Moule
A Few More Marchings Weary
Words: Fanny Crosby, 1882.
A few more marchings weary, then we’ll gather home!
A few more storm clouds dreary, then we’ll gather home!
A few more days the cross to bear,
And then with Christ a crown to wear;
A few more marchings weary, then we’ll gather home!
O’er time’s rapid river, soon we’ll rest forever;
No more marchings weary when we gather home!
A few more nights of weeping, then we’ll gather home!
A few more watches keeping, then we’ll gather home!
A few more vict’ries over sin,
A few more sheaves to gather in,
A few more marchings weary, then we’ll gather home!
A few more sweet links broken, then we’ll gather home!
A few more kind words spoken, then we’ll gather home!
A few more partings on the strand,
And then away to Canaan’s land:
A few more marchings weary, then we’ll gather home!
“Now listen to me, if you’re saved here tonight, you’re not saved because the Romans and Jews rejected Jesus. You’re not saved because they put a crown of thorns on His head. You’re not saved because they ran a spear through His side, and you’re not saved even because they nailed Him to a cross. Do you know why you’re saved if you are saved? Because when Jesus Christ was hanging on that cross, He bore your sin. The sin of God’s people and all the fierce wrath of God that should fall upon you fell upon His only begotten Son. Someone had to pay that price.
Someone had to die. It was God the Father who crushed His only begotten Son. According to Isaiah 53, it says, It pleased Yahweh to crush Him. People say the cross is a sign of how much man is worth. That’s not true. The cross is a sign of how depraved we really are, that it took the death of God’s own Son. The only thing that could save a people like us was the death of God’s own Son under the wrath of His own Father paying the price, rising again from the dead. Powerful to say, this is the Gospel of Jesus.”
-Paul Washer, excerpted from THIS message
“Jesus said to them, ‘ I am the good Shepherd;
the good Shepherd (B)lays down His life for the sheep.’”
“A dear Christian, who had just discovered what it meant to have the
Lord as his Shepherd, said to me,
“Of course, I had always known that that was what He was called, but it meant nothing to me; and I believe I read the Twenty-third Psalm as though it was written, ‘The Lord is the sheep, and I am the shepherd, and, if I do not keep a tight hold on Him, He will run away.’ When dark days came I never for a moment thought that He would stick by me, and when my soul was starving and cried out for food, I never dreamed He would feed me. I see now that I never looked upon Him as a faithful Shepherd at all. But now all is different. I myself am not one bit better or stronger, but I have discovered that I have a good Shepherd, and that is all I need. I see now that it really is true that the Lord is my Shepherd, and that I shall not want.”
-Hannah Whitall Smith
Is the Bible in any way believable? Can we trust the New Testament Gospels? Were the Gospel accounts of the Lord Jesus Christ’s life on earth really written by eyewitnesses? These are some tough questions – they even made one man abandon his faith in God.
The feisty Christian bloggers over at Pyromaniacs have an excellent post tackling these questions, which were put to them by the aforementioned man undergoing a crisis of faith. Not only do they offer some great insights but they also provide links to even more proofs that not only is the Bible accurate, true, and trustworthy, the God who gave us His Word is too!

2 students shot at Delaware State
By RANDALL CHASE, Associated Press Writer
Two students were shot and wounded, one seriously, at Delaware State University early Friday, and the campus was locked down as police searched for a gunman, officials said.
Classes were canceled for the day and students were being kept inside.
"They've been directed to stay in their dorms," said Carlos Holmes, a university spokesman. "We don't know where the shooter's at."
At the university's main entrance, swing-arm gates were down to prevent people from driving onto campus.
The students were shot near the Memorial Hall gymnasium around 1 a.m., according to a news release on the university's Web site.
Holmes said the female student appeared to have suffered serious wounds. "They could be potentially life-threatening," he said. The male student's wounds were not as serious and he was hospitalized in stable condition, Holmes said.
Police hoped to find out more information once the victims were able to talk.

“The key to experiencing security in your life is to depend on things that are eternal, not temporal. Christians often feel insecure because they are depending on temporal things they have no right or ability to control. For example, some people rely on their money for material security instead of relying on God's promise to supply all our needs. The safest place to keep money a few years ago was a savings and loan institution. But many have failed and the security people had placed in them was shattered. Only eternal investments are secure.
Security only comes from relating to that which is anchored in eternity. Jesus said that we have eternal life and that no one can snatch us out of His hand (John 10:27-29). Paul declared that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ (Romans 8:35-39) and that we are sealed in Him by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13, 14). How much more secure can you get than that?
When your ultimate trust is in temporal values and relationships, you are always subject to insecurity because these things are subject to failure and can be lost. The greatest sense of security you can experience is the byproduct of taking a firm grip on values and relationships which will endure as long as God Himself.”
-Neil Anderson
